Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group enter places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to form the Questers and Strategists groups.

Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
