Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved no match even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
